Dear Dr. Buff,

I can see favoritism in referees.  They often do not have a strong knowledge about the rules and lack "solid ground."  This affects the mood of my intramural team. What should I do?

 Dear Confused, Un-favored player,

Truly, if a fair win is what you seek, then approach the referees beforehand to make sure they know their stuff. Clarify some ground rules that you have been having issues with lately. Educate them, if possible! On another note, if this kind of behavior brings the team down, then why play? It is an intramural sport after all. Focus on the play, and ignore the rules. You should try that, and see how it works!

If this continues, become a referee next year and take your revenge. Revenge is best served cold, after all. But don't tell anybody I said that.
